Proper websites

without the uncertainty

Choosing a new website is an important decision, and it’s natural to have questions. Here you’ll find answers to the things we’re most often asked about pricing, timescales, support, ownership and what it’s like to work with us.

  • Why shouldn’t I just use Facebook instead of having a website?

Social media is a great way to engage with existing customers, but your website is the one place that's entirely under your control. It's where people go to find your menus, opening hours, events, accommodation and contact details, and it's often the first impression they'll have of your business.

Why do I need a dedicated website?

A dedicated website gives your pub its own identity. Unlike generic hospitality platforms, it's designed around your business, your customers and your goals, helping you stand out from the competition and appear more prominently in Google search results.

Can you redesign my existing website?

Yes and No. We can replicate (and improve) the current design or completely refresh your website on our web platform but we cannot take over your current setup, e.g. Wordpress. It's usually possible to keep your current domain name if you know where it's hosted, making the transition as seamless as possible.

My website still works. Why should I replace it?

Technology, customer expectations and Google's search algorithms change over time. A modern website is easier to use on mobile devices, loads faster, is easier to update and helps present your pub in the best possible light.

How much does a website cost?

The design & build phase costs £995 or £1,450 + VAT respectively, depending on whether you choose The Essentials or The Works options - see the Prices page for more information. When ready to go live, there is an additional annual charge for: Web management subscription, hosting, maintenance & support at £25 per month (paid annually in advance before go live).

    How does payment work?

Payment for all design and build work is required in advance. Once you’ve confirmed you’d like to proceed, we’ll send a secure payment link for the agreed project. As soon as payment has cleared, we’ll schedule your project and get started.

Before your website goes live, we’ll invoice for your hosting, website management tools, maintenance and technical support. This is charged at £25 per month, payable annually in advance.

  • How long does the project take?

Most websites are completed within three to six weeks, depending on how quickly we receive content and feedback. Note. Going live will be dependent on the situation regarding your domain and access to DNS settings, but we will endeavour to get this organised early on in the project.

Do I need to provide the wording?

Not necessarily. We're happy to work with existing content or write fresh copy that reflects your business and improves search engine visibility.

Can you use my existing photographs?

Yes, provided they're of suitable quality. If needed, we'll also advise on the types of photography that will have the greatest impact. The better the photography, the better the website.

Will the website work on mobile phones?

Absolutely. Every website is designed to look and perform beautifully on desktops, tablets and smartphones. This is otherwise known as 'responsive' design as the page content is automatically adapted to look its best on each device.

Can I see the website before it goes live?

Of course. You'll have plenty of opportunity to review the design and request changes before launch. Your website is the shop window to your customer base and we want you to be happy.

    How many revisions are included?

We'll work with you until you're happy with the finished website. Most projects only require one or two review rounds.

  • Can I update the menus myself?

Yes. You'll be able to edit menus, prices and descriptions whenever you need without contacting us.

    Can I upload new photographs?

Absolutely. Updating galleries and images is straightforward.

    Can I promote events?

Yes, if you've chosen 'The Works' package you'll be able to manage your events without any technical knowledge. Whether it's quiz nights, live music, seasonal events or special offers, you can keep your website up to date whenever you like.

Can customers book a table online?

Yes, with either of our packages. 'The Essentials' website will feature a button that can link out to your preferred booking system, e.g. OpenTable or DesignMyNight. For 'The Works' we can also integrate your preferred reservation system directly into the website to give your customers a seamless booking experience.

We have rooms. Can guests book accommodation?

Yes, with either of our packages. 'The Essentials' website will feature a button that can link out to your preferred booking system, e.g. Eviivo or Booking.com. For 'The Works' we can also integrate your preferred reservation system directly into the website to give your customers a seamless booking experience - you just need to give us the code that they provide.

    Can I sell gift vouchers?

Yes. With our 'The Works' package we can integrate third-party gift voucher systems to give your customers an elevated experience.

    Can I add vacancies?

Certainly. Our 'The Works' websites can include a dedicated Careers page or simple recruitment section with a dedicated form whereby candidates can upload their CV.

Can I add a blog or news section?

Yes. Many pubs use this to promote events, seasonal menus and local news while also improving SEO. This facility is included in our 'The Works' package so you can manage posts directly via the CMS (Content Management System) from your Dashboard.

  • Do I need any technical knowledge?

No. The website is designed so you can update content yourself without needing technical expertise.

Will you show me how to use it?

Yes. Every website includes simple training videos together with ongoing support should you need it.

What if I forget how to do something?

Just ask. We’re always happy to point you in the right direction.

Can more than one person update the website?

Yes. Up to three users can have their own login if required.

  • Will my website appear on Google?

Yes. Before going live, we complete the built-in SEO Setup to ensure that every website is built with SEO best practice in mind and submitted to Google once it goes live. The system includes a full suite of SEO management tools for you to explore from your dashboard.

Can you improve my Google rankings?

No one can guarantee rankings, but we build every website to give it the strongest possible foundations for search visibility. The system includes a library of resources to improve your knowledge of how you can get the most from your website.

Can you help with Google Business Profile?

We don't, but the system includes resources that will answer any questions you have, right from your secure dashboard.

  • Do you host the website?

Yes, this is compulsory for all of our sites. Hosting, security updates and technical maintenance are all taken care of as part of your annual fee of £25 per month. Everything technical is taken care of in one secure location.

What happens if something goes wrong?

If there’s ever an issue, simply contact us and we’ll investigate as quickly as possible.

    Is my website backed up?

Yes. Regular backups provide peace of mind should anything unexpected happen. You can restore your site to a previously published version at the click of a button (the system will provide any relevant warnings before action is taken).

    Will the website be secure?

Yes. SSL certificates and modern security features are included as standard.

Can you register my domain name for me?

Yes. We can help register a new domain or connect an existing one. Additional costs may apply, ask us for a quote.

  • Who owns the website?

Once your project has been paid for, the website belongs to you and we invite you to become a 'co-owner'. To continue to give you our best service we continue as co-owners, but you can request to sever all ties to us in writing.

Am I tied into a long contract?

No. We believe clients stay with us because they’re happy with the service, not because they’re locked into lengthy agreements. Note that pre-paid annual hosting and maintenance invoices are non-refundable regardless of the length of time remaining. Tell us you wish to leave and we'll cancel the repeating invoice.

What if I move to another business?

Your website belongs to you. If you move to another pub, we can usually adapt the website to suit your new business rather than starting again from scratch.

What if I’m not very good with technology?

Don’t worry - you’re not expected to be.

Our aim is to make the whole process straightforward, from the first conversation through to launch and beyond. We’ll guide you through each stage, provide simple training, and continue to support you afterwards. Most of our clients are confidently updating their own websites within a few days, and if you’d rather leave something to us, we’re only a phone call or email away.
